WE ALL LIKE SCIENTISTS LIVING WITH UNENDING RESEARCH
We are all guilty of this. We think, haven walked with the Lord for a few short years, in comparison with the ageless One, that we somehow have the Lord figured out. I wonder! There are approximately 7.5 billion people on the face of the earth and no two people have the same fingerprint. So much to know about God.
I have always wondered why Samuel thought Eliab was the Lord's chosen? Samuel has walked with the Lord for a long time, and I feel became familiar with God. Why? He needed to choose the first king of Israel and the scripture records that Saul from his 'shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people'. Hint - Saul is a tall man. Ok. Saul walks contrary to the Word of God; the Lord goes searching for another king and sends His man Samuel. Samuel gets to the house of Jesse and guess what happens, it came to pass that when he saw Eliab he thought the Lord's anointed is before him. Because of his countenance, and the height of his stature; but alas Eliab was not the Lord's man.
Two men shared the same physical characteristics, even if they were twins, yet God chose the first, but rejected the other. It is so easy to become familiar with the Lord. Haven seen Him work or move in one particular direction we feel He must continue to act in that way.
God is too big to be limited by one mode of operation. We must pay close attention to the Holy Spirit; He is the one that leads us to the places we must go - not the other way around.
