In the U.S. we have separation of powers to prevent one branch of the government from becoming tyrannical and federalism to prevent the national government from being overbearing. What other anti centralization and corruption measures could be put in place?

Currently, the United States has a fairly federalized and unified system at least on paper. However, we do have a largely polarized and economized system that allows for biased people to slip through and hold offices for longer periods of time that then allows them to gain advantages that they should not have. In order to prevent corruption from furthering itself in our system, I think we should implement age limits and term limits for all office positions. This should be especially rigid in higher systems such as the senate and the house of representatives. While we have an age minimum for all positions, in order to prevent members from gaining seniority over other members in the system there needs to place a maximum limit of 3 terms. This would allow for the continual flow of new ideas and prevent cliches of long-term representatives from occurring where they can easily manipulate others of their party who are newly elected to support their stances. Additionally, by implementing age maximums, we would prevent long outdated and uber traditional ideas from continuing in our system. While I do believe we still need to maintain some traditional ideas, by having representatives that are unable to connect with the current age of technology they are falling behind on properly determining what is right for the country. While these choices do not heavily affect federalism directly I still believe they greatly aid in the success of federalism in the United States to allows for the continual development of modern ideas and laws.
