Well worth it too. I just met Eric at the SETI holiday party, and he's a great guy. All of them are an amazing bunch who are very passionate about what they do. They are working on some incredibly exciting new projects (new telescope arrays, using Google's AI to interpret signal patterns, etc.) And they always need money, because it's all private funding for them.
