I think it’s about time to update on what has been done, what’s ongoing, and what are the future plans for https://www.gridcoins.org web / android wallet.
Within the Beta version, we are getting close to next target of 500 installation, which is a good testing sample. (Android Only).
Thanks to @shmoogleosukami , @barton26 and an anonymous person, 3 serious security issues have been resolved.
We started the process of incorporating a non profit foundation, based in UK, London. Due to inability to found a consensus within the community, the organization will not be directly representing GridCoin, rather, it will be a Scientific organization but will be open to anyone. It’s expected to finalize documentation, bank accounts and company house registration by the end of April.
I invited an experienced professional Fiat Trader to help setting up the platform. He will offer his help for free for a period of 3 months, afterwards, the organization will need to decide if we want to enter the commercial deal / provide some sort of salary.
Not much have been done on the software side, few changes to mention are:
- Updates on status page that check the largest known block against https://gridcoinstats.eu (Thanks to @startail / @sc-steemit) making sure everything is in sync.
- Status page now shows the amount of GRC sales orders in queue.

- There's an ongoing development of IOS application as well. The app will be fully signed and listed in app store.
Observation:
While there are increased amount of wallet users, the amount of trades declined in last two weeks. I would assume it’s a result of Bitcoin correction and the general situation in crypto market.
Work in Progress:
During the April, we will be working to migrate website towards the organization. There will be many software changes, based on opinions we got so far and bugs reported. Once the migration is completed, I would assume it would be safe to move from Beta stage into a full production.
The next update will be by the end of April, hopefully out of the stage of Beta, followed by a professional third party security testing for PCI compliance.
Further informations will also be published on the Foundation website monthly, as well as here. Organization memberships will be announced soon. (Will be covered in another post), once we are officially listed within Company House registry.
What I can say so far, is that we managed to establish a very good relation with the University of Belgrade, and if everything goes well, we can expect some funds to finance the project and become commercially competitive, yet non-profit.
Special thanks goes to @Vortac and other community members for bringing the awareness of this project by trending them, resulting in almost 500 users so far.

P.S. Sorry for the lack of time to post regularly, I will still be up-voting #Gricdoin related posts, but can't post that frequently due to personal business obligations, and the time-demanding of the project. However I'll concentrate my time for the success of this project.

We have more demands then offerings in trading, which I assume is a very good sign for the Gridcoin as a #cryptocurrency, however some transactions are delayed. Please be sure to check the status page before ordering. Also, don't experiment with large amounts until we are in Beta.

I read that each wallet created gets 3GRCs from the faucet? Is this correct? I never received the 3GRCs...
That is correct, however Faucet is empty. In total, we got less then 150 GRC in donations (excluding Vortacs one on the beginning of project), that's already distributed. I'll put the Faucet status on the status page as well during the next week, so users can know if they could expect credits.
But on the other hand, It's not that we advertised facuet, so I assume many people who would otherwise donated did not even know it exists.

I'd like to try this out, but I'm curious about something first. Can this wallet app be used in tandem with a regular wallet, or will it need to be a primary wallet? Also, will I need to have the entire blockchain on my phone?
Wallet can / but not necessarily need to be used with desktop wallet. When wallet is created, a private key is given for allocated address that allows to be imported into desktop wallet using "importprivkey" command.
In such scenario, you can operate same address from both web/android and desktop wallet.
Android / Web wallet is lightweight one, and it does not need any sync or storing the blockchain on computer/phone.
For security reasons it's advised not to connect with main wallet until the Beta notice is removed, unless you are having a separate one for testing purposes.
