Gridcoin an alternative to Bitcoin

in #gridcoin6 years ago (edited)

Today I read an interesting article (here) on Business Insider Australia about the excessive energy consumption to mine Bitcoin and securing the network. The comments about Bitcoin in this article were basically in line with other articles I read in the Gardian and on the BBC website but at the end of the article there was a link to Gridcoin as potential alternative to Bitcoin. Compared to Bitcoin, which is peforming calculations of little use, Gridcoin rewards BOINC users in paying them for their computing efforts while participating in science projects.

Although it was just one paragraph in the whole article, I was very pleased to read this because it is the best PR Gridcoin can receive.

Unfortunately, in the same paragraph it was also mentioned that Gridcoin is only in its infancies which is all about perception to me. Personally I am 100% convinced that Gridcoin has already reach a level of maturity, and with the ongoing discussions and developments we can make Gridcoin the mainstream alternative to Bitcoin.

So I would like to use the article in the Business Insider as a small teaser to continue the great developments being undertaken to reach a point where everybody outside our community is also convinced about the usefulness and maturity of Gridcoin.

Thanks for reading. Follow me for more BOINC & Gridcoin related articles.

Well done! Keep promoting and BOINCing!

It was pretty exciting to see this at the end of their article indeed, great signs for Gridcoin! :)

Agreed, this is the first step to be mentioned in these kind of articles and discussions.

It is now the time to show everybody that Gridcoin really is up for the challenge to be a mainstream alternative. In every discussion I have about Bitcoin I always mention Gridcoin as alternative with most people at least checking the background of Gridcoin.
