Everything works !
Thanks to the stability of the last 3.7.8 mandatory version two months ago (or of any version to the last 3.7.11 of March 16th 2018), Poloniex has finally changed Gridcoin status so you can deposit and withdraw as expected! Such a good timing at this time of the year!
I actually submitted a support ticket to Poloniex regarding this issue several weeks ago and received the following response:
Pretty generic response, but at least I got my voice heard. I'm going to stop using Polo and start using Bittrex once this gets sorted out.
Thank you for reporting an official statement. This will reassure a lot of occasional traders that the situation tends to improve.
At least as of this moment, it looks like the wallet has been re-enabled.:)

Prices will go down at first as weak hands want to clear out - but that will allow new entrants in, so we should be happy :-).
