Growth is one of the characteristics of living things. This means that anything that does not grow is without life. Growth is proportionate to increase, multiplication and progress. Growth can be hindered, stunted or stopped.
On my niece's sixteenth birthday, the father asked if he could prepare breakfast for her, so that she would know how much he appreciated her. The girl answered, "why am I sixteen if I need you to cook for me? I'll cook for myself because it's a sigh that I have grown".
I saw this statement as a challenge. Some of us adults have been involved with what we are doing for several years, yet we look for other people to do things for us.
Growing in life brings joy to us and our well wishers. When growth is hindered there will be no joy, motivation and passion will reduce. When a child is not growing, he becomes a trouble to himself, his parents and the community. Growth is progressive and should be all round every aspect of life. It takes growth for a man to fulfil the blessedness of having dominion and subduing the earth.
Balanced growth starts from the spirit of a man. Christ grew and "waxed strong in spirit". Strength is not acquired in the public. It requires the practice of discipline in the closet. The eagle renews it's strength in a place where no one sees it. It then comes out to soar and reach greater heights.
When you are growing, do not grow alone. Grow and groom everyone around you, especially your family. As you grow do not forget those that influenced you positively, in one way or the other. You still need people to get to higher levels in life.
If you are going to grow, you need to check your company. Consider the kind of people that surround you. If you surround yourself with people who don't want to improve, you would end up not growing. Do not surround yourself with complainers, those who blame others always, without seeing their own faults. Do not put anyone who does not respect you around you. Everyone needs encouragement in his life, don't put around you a man who perpetually talks down on you. Surround yourself with people who see a future in what you are doing. Move with people who will encourage you and provoke you to succeed.
