The Plum Blossoms! ~ Original Haiku

on the wind
the fragrance of
ume blossoms

I've posted about them before (and a different before) but it bears repeating: the plum blossoms, called ume in Japanese, are a sign of the coming spring in Japan. They look somewhat similar to the cherry blossoms that most of the world is familiar with at this point, but they come earlier, often when it is still quite cold, and there have a wonderful smell (whereas the cherry blossoms have none).

They are out now, and they are wonderful!

Hi thereDavid LaSpina is an American photographer and translator lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time and searching for the perfect haiku.

Thanks for the beautiful picture. I would love to travel to Japan someday to see the blossoms myself.

@andre-verbrick - You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for stopping by. The blossoms in Japan are really something. All of spring in Japan is amazing. I hope you can visit someday!
