How typical of a politician to make promises before the election... is he still very popular? However I do admire the fact that although public gathering is banned, political allies are still allowed, could have been worse.

The population is an almost 50/50 split those of African heritage constituting 49%, and those of east Indian about 49%. With 1% white Portuguese, Syrian, or Chinese. And the nuance of around 30% are mixed. Voting tends to follow racial identity and usually results i n an almost 50/50 split. Has been for decades. From a population of 1.5 million, there are perhaps 1 million eligible voters, as few as 1000 votes can determine an election. He wasn't popular before, and isn't popular now, ev en among those who voted for him. The win was as much about a lack of credible opposition as anything else. Thanks for the Brits tip.
