Hey guys everybody who has been around in the fitness niche for more than 24 hours knows the ketogenic diet. It is promoted everywhere and it seems like it is the solution mto all your problems. Whether you want to lose weight or bulk up. The Ketogenic diet is also said to cure many kinds of medival diseases like epilepsy. This post is a start of a series in which I am going to try to seperate the truth and the lies about this diet.

First of all let's start with the sheer basics. The ketogenic diet is a diet which is very low in carbohydrates, moderate in proteins and high in fats. And there we go, the first problem is the ratio in which these 3 components should be consumed.
Most of the keto and fitness gurus like to tell their fellow students that they need to eat at least 75% fat to get into ketosis in order to lose weight. These gurus tell them to top everything with half a block of butter and at least 2 litres of olive oils because otherwise they don't get into ketosis. And then these people wonder why they are not losing weight...

IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT (FAT IN PARTICULAR) YOU HAVE TO EAT LESS FAT!
And if you think about it makes totally sense. When you are on a ketogenic diet your body has to utilize something else for energy other than carbohydrates. In this case fat is gonna be your man. This fat can either come from the things that you consume OR from your body. In fact the core of every meal should consist of a good source of protein. You build your source of fats and carbohydrates around that core. So if you want to lose fat I highly recommend consuming about 1.8 Grams of Protein per Kg of lean Bodymass.

Oh yeah I can already feel that shitstorm. "All the excess protein is going to convert into glucose and it's gonna kick you out of ketosis, you focking domb$ss".
Yep I saw that coming. In theory it is true, that the liver can convert Protein into glucose well but guess what. This happens when you consume a whopping 3-4 grams of Protein per Kg of lean Bodymass and that's massive.

If you are in ketosis stop hating on protein. Protein is your best friend and it makes you feels satisfied and provides essential amino-acids for a normal body function. I also want to add that there is nothing wrong with adding butter to your steak and of course you can be generous with the fats you add but don't overdo it and don't expect radical changes in your body-composition.

I hope you liked my post.

If you did xDddd
