Raising children is not a simple matter. Parents are aware that how they raise their children can affect them adults. Yet, so many parents focus on getting them a quality education and success.
Admittedly, those factors are important. Yet, the little things are the ones that matter most to a child. What little things am I talking about? Let us have a look, shall we?

I Love You

These three words are very important for a child's healthy development. It should go beyond just telling your kids that you love them every day. Let your actions speak as well. It can be something as simple as listening to them. Or even just writing notes that express your love for them.
Various studies add on to the importance of showing love to your kids. They state that it allows children to form secure attachments from a young age. Secure attachment allows children to form and maintain good relationships as adults.
Read To Them

Create a habit of reading to them before bedtime. The child views this as a form of affection and intimacy from you. Intimacy creates a bond between you and the child as well. Also, it helps build the child's vocabulary from a young age.
Start as early as six months if possible. Ease into it and work with them. As they get older, get more complex books and continue to read out loud to them.
Apologize for Your Shortcomings
This concept cannot be over-emphasized. The daily pressures of life can lead us to be more irritable. Hence, we can lose our cool with our kids and overreact.
If you know your reaction was wrong, then apologize. If you feel guilty for the way you reacted, give a sincere apology. Your child will perceive this act as one of kindness and love. They will feel treasured and even try not to repeat the wrong doing.
Include and Appreciate Them
As a parent, you should include your children in some of your activities. It can be something as simple as cleaning the kitchen table together. Or even just clearing the kitchen table or putting the clean dish away.
This small act will make your kids feel valued and important. Afterward, thank them for their help and maybe even give them a reward. You'll be surprised at how much their attitude on things will change.
Spend Time With Them

Spending time with your children does not have to be something big. Join in as they play make believe or them with their homework. Be spontaneous and once in a while do something fun with them.
Go for a picnic, or grab some ice cream and head to the park. This will help your children realize that they are a priority to you.

The Right Perspective
Juggling a life with kids and other responsibilities are not exactly easy. And it is easy to lose perspective and sight of what is really important. This can lead to discouragement and affect how you raise your children.
Focus on the good: like the fact that your child is healthy. Moreover, do not be afraid to ask for help if you need it. You can ask your husband to help you with the kids so you can rest. Also, hire a babysitter to create some time for you and your husband.
