The Most Important Thing: Poo of a Baby

in #health6 years ago (edited)

One of the things that parents first learned is about baby's stool and the general health of the number of stools. Because of this, the baby's diaper is carefully examined especially at the first time, and it is checked whether it has blood or mucus. It can also be anxious to have a lot of poop. Then what does it mean if the poop is green? how many times a day is normal?
what has to be done if the baby is constipated?

Baby's first poo is in greenish black color. This is the meconium that fills the gut for as long as the baby remains in the mother's womb. The baby throws this meconium out of the intestines in the first 24 hours.

After the first 24 hours, the bowels start throwing temporary stools. Temporary stool is a yellow-green colored stool. It is watery and particulate. It is especially seen in infants receiving breast milk.

The temporary stool ends after 3-4 days. After this began to change, depending on what they eat.

We can talk about more than one reason why baby's poop is green. This is normal if the newborn baby's stool is green.

Only infants who receive breast milk;
It shows that there is a lot of dark green vegetables when the mother is fed,
The baby or the mother is using iron,
The baby uses some different medicines,
Breastfeeding mother is using antibiotics.

Babies are less constipated when they are fed only with breast milk. Because every baby's mother's milk is the most appropriate for the baby's intestines and digestion. The baby, who is fed with breast milk, is probably pooping once a week. However, this poop is extremely soft and does not force the baby in doing so. In this case, we can not talk about constipation.
Infants who are fed with formula tends to get constipated more often. Your baby may not poop for 3-4 days, or it may poop more frequently. If the baby gets very difficult when pooing, cracks may occur in the anus due to stress.

When the time comes, every woman/man can be a expert poo analyzer!

I'm sure this will be something I will get to know better once our first arrives in July. So much stuff to know

Yes that's true! Every stage is an another world. Congrats btw :)

Before kids I would hear parents comment on how all their conversations revolved around diaper contents once their baby arrived, which seemed strange. Now, six months into parenthood, I have talked (and web browsed) about poo more than I ever imagined I would. Thankfully, my doctor explained that there is a wide variety of normal and a babies behavior will often reflect a problem in the diaper as well. Great share of information. -Aimee

I can imagine :) I have 6 months of experience too so far and still analyizing every bit of the poo

What I also (strangly) find interesting is how much it can vary from baby to baby, even when they are siblings. We have twins and their output, for the most part, has been different from one another. -A

Waow that’s really strange. I did not know that. But it makes sense since every baby is different and their digestive system. Btw your hands are quite full with the twins. I can not handle one for most of the time :) good luck!

Oh yeah, our hands are definitely full, but so are out hearts. Best wishes to you too mama! -Aimee

Very useful information. In the first opportunity I will look at my baby's poo. Poo is important 💩

I wish we had this when our child was younger. It would have made it all a little more understandable. Thsnks for posting it.

You're welcome :)
