Vitamin C is a vitamin that is good to help you ward off colds, viruses, and the latest info, it could also be for cancer therapy.

This new research not only confirm the ability of vitamin C in cancer-fighting vitamins, but also revealed how high-dose vitamin C vitamin C could be harmful to cancer cells, but not harmful to healthy cells.

According to new research published online in the journal this Redox Biology, researchers from the University of Iowa found that vitamin C is easily damaged, creatinghydrogen peroxide, reactive oxygen species, which cause damage to the tissues and DNA.

However, according to the study, the cancer cells are much more able to eliminate this hydrogen peroxide than healthy cells are normal.

As a result, the team believe that high doses of vitamin C given intravenously can be effective in helping to fight cancer when used with chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

"In this study we show that cancer cells are much more efficient in removing hydrogen peroxide dibamding normal cells. Thus, the cancer cells are much more susceptible to damage and death caused by hydrogen peroxide in high levels, "said Garry Buettner, Professor of radiation oncology and is a member of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa who was also involved in this research project.

"This study also memerlihatkan how high doses of vitamin C used in the clinical trialdoes not affect normal tissues, however, can damage the tumor tissue,".

According to studies, high doses of vitamin C given intravenously (through the blood vessels) can go directly to the stomach, so that his nutritional more likely entering the blood stream.

The researchers plan to test the treatment on patients with pancreatic and lung cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy, to see if there is an increase in positive results if therapy coupled with the granting of high-dose vitamin C.

This isn't the first time scientists acknowledge the ability of vitamin C in the fight against cancer.

In 2015, a study published in the journal Science found that vitamin C is also useful in treating cancer cells are mutated in colorectal cancer patients that do not respond to other types of treatment.

The team hope that one day, high doses of vitamin C may become the standard treatment to fight the cancer, so patients have more safe and effective to fight their disease.
