When pet dogs are spoiled and licking faces, this may be a fun moment for you. However, this adorable animal's saliva on your face may have a negative impact on health.
A dermatologist and co-host on "The Doctors" show, Sonia Batra, MD, acknowledges when dog saliva touches your skin, it will not cause problems if you are healthy.

"But pet dog saliva can easily be absorbed through the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth, and eyes of a person," said Batra.
Batra believes dog salivation very rarely causes health problems. However, this is very likely to occur in those who have immune system-related problems. Here are three effects of a pet dog lick that you can experience.

  1. Parasites

This disease is very likely to happen if used to allow pet dogs lick your face. Batra explains when your pet is licking the shit and anus of other dogs, their saliva will contain hookworms and bracelets.
Both parasites can lead to decreased appetite, cough, diarrhea, and even fever if it enters your body. Therefore, think twice about letting a pet dog lick your face.

  1. Stomach ache

All dogs will sniff out all things, including dirty objects like dirt. This is what causes dogs to carry bacteria that can be transmitted through saliva, according to Batra.
Bacteria, such as Cryptosporidium, Clostridium, E. Coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Leptospira, and Campylobacter, which are generally transmitted by dogs can cause stomach pain, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and vomiting.

  1. Rashes and itching

Batra says the dog's lick can transmit ringworm, a fungal infection that causes rash on the skin. This reaction can take place in just a few minutes.
If that happens to you, you should treat the infection with anti-fungal creams and ointments, and oral medications. Although it can be treated, you should start thinking not to let a pet dog lick your face.
