A dislocation is when two connected bones separated. Dislocation are caused by falls and hard impacts, such as in sports injuries and are more common in teens than young children.
A joint is where two or more bones come together. A joint may be dislocated if it is :swollen, bruised or red, painful, difficult to move, out of place.
A dislocations occurs when a bone slips out of a joint. For example, the top of your arm bone fits into a joint at your shoulder, when it slips or pops out of that joint, you have a dislocated shoulder. You can dislocate almost any joint in your body, including your knees, hips, ankle or shoulder.
DIAGNOSIS
Besides examing your injury, your doctor might order the following :
X-ray, an X-ray of your joints is used to confirm the dislocation and may reveal broken bones or other damage to your joint.
MRI: This can also help your doctor assess damage to the soft tissue structures around a dislocated joint.
TREATMENT
Treatment of the dislocation depends on the site and severity of your injury. It might involve.
Reduction :Your doctor might try gently maneuver to help your bones back into position. Depending on the amount of pain and swelling, you might need a local anesthetic or even a general anesthetic before manipulation of your bones.
Shoulder joint dislocation is often seen with gleno-humeral joint. Shoulder joint separation is either partial or complete. Partial separation is known as duplication and complete separation is known as dislocation.
Dislocation is a breakage of link between humerus and glenoid socket of scapula. Shoulder joint dislocation because shoulder joint has a wide range of movement and is used extensively during daily activities.
