For today's weed news we go to Washington DC.
The United States Senate just voted 86-5 in favor of a measure that would establish protections for military veterans who could benefit from using medical marijuana.
The measure is part of a larger bill which hashes out funding for the federal government through the end of 2019.
If this legislation does become law, it would legally prevent the feds from using any funds to:
"interfere with the ability of a veteran to participate in a medicinal marijuana program approved by a state"
"deny any services from the Department to a veteran who is participating in such a program"
"limit or interfere with the ability of a healthcare provider of the department to make appropriate recommendations, fill out forms, or take steps to comply with such a program"
This sounds like great news and like someone in the government actually cares about the veterans. The only problem is that none of the above mentioned protections exist in the House version of the legislation.
Avid cannabis-hater and House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions from Texas has always made sure to do away with any legislation that could be considered cannabis-friendly.
So before veterans suffering from chronic pain, PTSD or the repercussions from the opioids that they're being prescribed for their chronic pain can enjoy the relief that medical marijuana could provide, the House and Senate have to work together and come up with a version that they will agree on.
Will this proposed protection for veterans be in the final version?
I guess all we can do is wait and see.

its immoral AF how they won't even let disabled vets choose for themselves what brings them the most relief.
Most vets don't give "af." we usually go against the grain anyhow... Don't matter whats written on paper when it comes to relief. Laws were made to be broken lol.
