What does a man like to do the most? For many, it might be to hang out with his friends, drink beer, watch a game on TV or just laugh together at silly jokes, which are not even funny the next day.
But if we are to believe a certain professor Robin Dunbar, director of Oxford University’s social and evolutionary neuroscience research group, that is exactly what is required for the male species to remain happy and healthy!

That's right, my dear fellow male citizens of the cyber territory of steemlandia.
You may now shutdown your laptops, switch off your phones and head on down to your favorite bar, grab a beer with your buddies and spend some quality man-time, all without a hint of guilt!
This comes as a stroke of luck for me when I am constantly reminded I am "getting older" and maybe our weekly meetups wasn't a very good idea, and I can now imagine the look on my partners face when this study shall be my scientific argument for carrying on with "traditions".
The report itself seems to be pretty to-the-point and with very specific observations like the ones below which gives a taste of what it contains,
- Men must physically meet with four friends twice a week to reap the benefits of male friendship.
- This study shows men to have an inner circle of only a handful of guys. In a lifetime, individuals max out at 150 real relationships (despite social media friend counts that often reach much higher than that).
- The key to maintaining these strong friendships is not only meeting up twice a week but also seeing “the four people closest to you” during these outings

And there are benefits to this too!
Benefits of these strong male friendships is said to include a stronger immune system, the release of endorphins , an overall decrease in anxiety levels, and (apparently) even higher levels of generosity!
Ans as per the report, laughter typically increases endorphins that make people feel good and promote a better sense of well-being, but if the group gets too big, laughter is less likely, so men tend to gather in groups of four when there are too many.
