Take Enough Vitamin C To Be Symptom Free Whatever That Amount Might Be
What if I told you there was a vitamin you could take that could help boost your immune system and greatly minimize the chance of you catching a respiratory illness (or any illness for that matter).
What if I also told you this same vitamin could help alleviate symptoms quickly and speed up the body's natural healing process dramatically should you find yourself or your kids with a caugh, cold, the flu, pneumonia, bronchitis, mononucleosis or what ever name your doctor wants to call it.
Would you believe me?
Chances are you wouldn't simply because your doctor never informed you about it.
Why?
It's not because he doesn't care about you or want to help you get better. It's simply because he received little to no nutritional training in medical school due to the fact that his education was largely influenced by the "for profit" pharmaceutical industry who makes their money by selling you drugs once you're already ill! If you never got sick, how would they make any money?
Remember, vitamin C was known to cure scurvy by 1753, yet governments ignored the fact for nearly 100 years. Countless thousands died in the meantime.
What Is Vitamin C And Why It's So Important
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that acts as an antioxidant, meaning, it has the ability to neutralize potentially damaging oxidizing agents (i.e. free radicals). Free radicals are very reactive chemicals which have the potential to harm the body’s healthy cells and speed up the aging process.

Huh?
Think of an apple. Once you take a bite or cut it into slices, after a few minutes it will start to turn brown. Why? Due to oxidation from the free radicals. By simply adding a vitamin c /water mixture (or lemon juice which contains vitamin c) to the cut apple you can dramatically reduce the rate of oxidation.

Similarly, by taking adequate amounts of antioxidants, namely vitamin c, you can prevent micro-organisms from wreaking havoc within your body.
How To Use Vitamin C Effectively
As humans we cannot manufacture our own vitamin C. We must consume it from exogenous (outside) supplements or our diet. To get enough to be effective you must take a vitamin c supplement. Personally I use Sodium Ascorbate, as it's non-acidic, but the Ascorbic Acid form is what most people choose to take simply because it's a cheaper option and works just as well.
So how much Vitamin C do you take?
That's a tough question because everybody is different and will require different amounts. In addition, your body will require vastly greater amounts when you're sick than when you're well. What I can tell you is that it's likely more than you think. As Andrew Saul, aka The Mega Vitamin Man likes to say,
"Take enough vitamin c to be symptom free whatever the amount might be."
That means exactly what it says. You take enough vitamin C until you feel better. But the way in which you take it is very important. Because Vitamin C is water-soluble, your body cannot store it. It needs to be taken on a regular basis to be effective. In addition, it needs to be taken to saturation (i.e. bowel tolerance).
The Protocol
Over a ten-year period Dr. Robert F. Cathcart III treated over 9,000 patients with large doses of vitamin C. What he discovered during this time is that people must "TITRATE TO BOWEL TOLERANCE." Simply stated, you continually measure and adjust between an amount that begins to make you feel better and that amount which causes loose stools.
Trust me, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds and nothing like this...

You will know you're there when your stomach starts to rumble and you feel the urge to go to bathroom. This will happen way before you would get diarrhea.
Basically, you do this same process when your healthy AND when you're sick because the amounts will be vastly different. And, you can do the same thing with your kids!
The following chart depicts the basic guidelines of what Dr. Cathcart discovered over 10 years of treatment and 9000 patients:

Some basic guidelines to follow:
- For adults, to find your bowel tolerance consider taking 2000-3000mg every few hours
- When sick, you will tolerate substantially more vitamin c than you normally would. Try taking 1000-2000mg every 10-15 minutes
- You will know you've taken enough when you feel better
- You will know when you take too much when you have loose stools. At this point just take slightly less to maintain enough for body saturation (i.e. bowel tolerance)
- For children, Dr. Frederick Robert Klenner, who also effectively treated 1000's of patients with vitamin c, advised parents to give their children their age in vitamin C grams (1 g = 1,000 mg). That would be 2,000 mg/day for a two year old, 9,000 mg/day for a nine year old, and for older children, a leveling-off at about 10,000 mg/day
- For infants, simply dissolve it in water, juice, breast milk, etc. For older kids, chewables or capsules work well
- For sick children, just like adults they will tolerate much more vitamin c then when they are well. Give frequent doses every 15 minutes or so. Please read the first paragraph of this article on orthomolecular.org outlining a case study
Summary
Vitamin c can be a powerful weapon in your goal of overall wellness but you need to take adequate amounts. Simply taking 500 mg once a day is not going to cut it. You need to find your body's saturation level to experience the amazing benefits.
So remember,
"Take enough vitamin c to be symptom free whatever the amount might be."
It's working for my family. I'm following Dr. Klenner's guidelines with my kids. They're thriving and rarely get sick.
Let me know your thoughts.
To your health and wealth,
