Trying To Beat The WA Heatwave!

We often camp at a Private campground near Sultan, WA. Gold Bar Nature Trails. Hearing we were going to experience a record-breaking heatwave we headed to the mountains from the desert side of WA.

As it turned out the weather was 104 f instead of 115 at home, but at least there were trees, shade and a beautiful creek filled with clean ice and snow runoff.

The creek is clean, fast running and fairly cold, exactly what the conditions required! Of course we had to build some rock formations.

We had a nice time, but the "West Side" of WA is not well prepared for these temperatures, so air conditioners failed, there were power spikes that impacted transformers and many other issues, so we headed home this morning.

Four and a half hours back home where it was a cozy 113. I managed to capture the hottest temperature we saw just outside of Yakima, WA.

I guess the worst isn't over yet, so we are going to have to find more things to do to try to beat the heat.

How's the weather where you are?

Sort:

We are accustomed to heatwaves, it goes to 45 - 48 degree centigrade in summer 😀 Right now a bit relaxed as it has started raining and its around 32 degree.

I guess it helps if your living situation is conditioned to it.

Today sucked.

My dog usually wants to run out of the garage. He was running in!

115 here.

Most likely was a little higher due to the metal roof.

At least you lived!!!

Tomorrow is supposed to be worse. Stay cool! Go surfing.

They said it's 93 today!!! Awesome day.

Gosh, and I'm already hiding in the basement of the house when it's high 90s and low 100s.

I better start grabbing snow melt from the canals if it ever hits 110 in Utah this summer.

Love those images, they look so picturesque and cool.
Heat waves are the worst. Mercifully our summer has been quite mild this year and it has begun to rain here.
It does get hot and humid at times but not as unbearable as the summer heat.
Hope it has gotten better for you now.

Cold fresh running streams. What a great way to beat the summer heat!😃 Stay safe out there.

It wouldn't be as good for taking photos and making blog posts, but I'd just become temporarily nocturnal during such a heatwave. 🤣

yeah, agreed..
