Welcome
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Exodus 13:6-9
We are continuing in chapter 13 today. The context is that Far'oh (Pharaoh) has caved and told Moshe (Moses) to take whatever they want and leave! Moshe is now recounting what the Almighty has done for them. He is talking about this huge event and telling them that they will remember it (with Feasts) for the generations to come.
The Creator's words are still being spoken as we read that the Moed (Feast - Appointed Time) will be observed by eating unleavened bread for seven days straight. On top of that, there can be no Chfametz (Yeast) in all their territory.
It is then stated that we shall tell our sons that it is because of what YHVH did did for me when I came out of Mitsraim (Egypt). He then goes on to say that "...it will be as a sign on your hand as a memorial between your eyes... -Pause-
The above statement reminds me of another way that people will be marked in the future. "He will cause all to receive a mark - right hand or forehead." typed in from memory from Hazon (Revelaton) related to the great copy-cat who wants to be a god. I just wanted to compare the two. The Almighty who instituted this kind of thing thousands of years ago, and another who wants to commandeer that same kind of order. I did not remember seeing that parallel last time I was in chapter 13.
-Continuing-
Why? "That the law of YHVH may be in your mouth." All of what I wrote on in the previous two paragraphs is covered in one verse. Exodus 13:9
There is a lot to ponder in that one verse. I mean, what is "The Law" God speaks of. The law came down from a mountain after they got to that mountain - coming up in later chapters.
I will not try to explain the mention of "The Law" pre-Mount Sinai. That is something many scholars have spoken about. It can be divisive and each one, if interested, should look at it for themselves.

Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to YHVH.
Unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days; no leavened bread shall be seen with you, and no leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory.
You shall tell your son on that day, 'It is because of what YHVH did for me when I came out of Egypt.' And it shall be to you as a sign on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the law of YHVH may be in your mouth. For with a strong hand YHVH has brought you out of Egypt.
