The way I do it is upload a photo to google Photos and copy the URL to the photo box in the editor.

Paste the URL in the Markdown editor and wait until the image shows in the Preview section when you scroll down!

If you click the link above it will show you what it should look like. It shows the link in the editor box and shows the photo in the preview box. Depending on your internet speed it will take some time for the photo to appear in the preview.

    Thank you, but I don't have such an editor and cannot show it how it appears on my steemit window because of the same problem. I only have a simple window with a slim frame to write within it. How can I get this editor?

      See the markdown button on the photo I commented above? (top right hand corner) Well there should be a button in the same place that says editor, if you click on that it should come up

      Thank you, but in Firefox the editor still doesn't appear. I switched to Chrome and here I can upload images and have the editor.

        Thanks for you answer although my solution was the opposite of yours. I could not upload media in Chrome. I switched to firefox and then I could upload media again.
