I have no advice as I am not using the app myself.
Leave a review on Google Play or @good-karma's latest post about eSteem.
As I've said it is still under development, he will be happy to read your feedback. Please state your phone brand and android version if you decide to write.
EDIT: I gave some more thought to the problem and I know that there was some trouble with the Steem API two days ago. The nodes are still not fully recovered. That might be the problem. I'm just guessing now. You should try to login later!?
