Friday Sept 21st Shill and Chill Recap
So here we are a week later and its time for another Shill and Chill Hangout with the folks from @helpie.
For those of you who aren't aware what "Shill and Chill" is here's a brief explanation.
The idea behind Friday's Shill portion of the event is to raise awareness of other people's posts. Like most other discord channels there is of course a post promotion channel where people can flag their own posts and hopefully get users to go, read, comment and of course upvote. But how many people are really going through every post in their channels promotion section?
#Helpie takes this to a new level with the Shill event. The idea is quite simple but also quite brilliant. Each member who wants to participate in the event must choose another @helpie members posts and present it to the group. No promoting your own post. This gets the participants more involved in what the other members of the community have posted in the last week.
Sounds easy enough right? All you have to do is find a great post and sell others on why it's great or why you believe it is worthy of additional upvotes and comments.
Now before I get into who shilled what and who won, there was a special guest at last night's Hangout
Mr. @scrooger (the duck himself folks) dropped by talk a little about his @Qurator project and team. We were also lucky enough to have a few of his mods @blacklux, @ackhoo and @ewkaw
For those of you who are not familar with @qurator (as I was not until last night) here is a brief excerpt from their Discord Server Start Here channel:
ABOUT QURATOR
Qurator is a service that helps users who pour their blood, sweat and tears into content creation to get noticed and rewarded for their efforts. Steemit has seen some incredible growth in the last few months and even though this is amazing for the platform, it might make it harder for the new Steemians to get noticed. With posts hovering well over 200 000 you can imagine how hard it is to get the attention you deserve for all your hard work! That's where Qurator comes in.
We want to help those who work really hard but still see little to no rewards on their posts. We are a support system that likes giving back to the community. Do not mistake us for a pay4vote bot. .
@scrooger and his mods were kind enough to give us some of their time and talk about all the good work @qurator does, how the project came about, and has evolved since its inception. After learning more of their mission and expressing the idea of a "partnership" with @helpie, @scrooger went even further and extended a 24 hour offer to all members of the @helpie community. Instead of the normal 4 steem registration fee, he would instead charge 3 steem for existing @helpie members.
So to all my fellow @helpie -nauts out there, take advantage of this generous offer and get your applications in. You have nothing to lose since if you are not accepted for any reason, they will refund your application fee. How awesome is that!!!
But wait... THERE'S MORE!!!!
As the evening progressed it would appear as if Santa Claus or a similar being had appeared.
As there was more talk and questions about how to apply, the cost that was involved,etc @scrooger himself (I'm thinking he needs a new handle, scrooge does not fit at all) got the ball rolling and offered to sponsor a @helpie member himself!!!

As usual the judges appeared completely overwhelmed with the choices they faced this week and had to retire to their super secret room to deliberate. Personally I'm beginning to think they just go for the beer and pretzels but hey, as long as they pick winners :)
