RE: Happy 28th hardfork everyone!

in #hf20 hours ago

Ah damn I had no idea there was a change to voting but someone may have alluded to it.
I like the change... although I liked how it was before as well.
It will certainly be easier to avoid hitting 100% now.

Sort:

Front-ends were supposed to offer a choice to emulate previous behavior. Yet while the change to voting was implemented not even three weeks after I've proposed it - two years ago - I don't know any tool prepared for that. Well, personally I'm not negatively affected, so... :o)

Oh wow so this has been a thing for years eh?
Honestly I don't think frontends should be offering a smooth transition here.
Just throw everyone into the deep end it will be fine.
Worst that can happen now is you get to 0% and realize oops I have no power left.

It was implemented that long ago, but since it required activation of a hardfork, only the devs got to see the effects. Hardfork 27 was the longest living hardfork by far - over 32M blocks (next one was HF25 with less than 13.5M blocks).

Front-ends were supposed to offer

It was just a comment, no frontend commited to do that :D

I assume it was mentioned on Mattermost channels too :o)
But considering even denser did not implement it, I'm not surprised no one else did either.

The change was supposed to make it easier for curators, so maybe there was no point implementing previous behavior :D
