ATG made an incredible change in the map of the known world. I guess it is somewhat inevitable that it would also change the art and architecture substantially. I had just never considered it.

That's right, it's great to find information on the subject in books and then see it live on your own eyes in the form of adapted temples or statues in a museum so far away from the epicenter of classical Greece. I think that this whole romantic framework of his personal life has added so much taste and it's even more interestning to research it all now. Plus all happening in the times when converted to Buddhism hindu bactrian rulers added their share to the art :)
