Is talent inherited?

Psychologists generally are sketchy on the question. They say it is difficult to arrive at a scientific conclusion.
But one can say that children of talented parents have a greater chance of possessing their own talents.
The question is really; 'what makes up an individuals ability?'
Its partly a matter of temperament & also the percentage the temperament has of finding its outlet.
Emotional disposition & temperament can be inherited.
Whether or not they have the opportunity to develop is largely a question of background.

It's doubtful whether beethoven could of been a said genius had he resided in for example a liverpool slum say some 90 years prior.
A childs sensibilities are sharpened or dulled by what goes on around it.
If its music that surrounds it, that doesn't mean that child is bound to become a musician. But it can see a correlation with its capacity to work or be in a creative industry.

Yet parents need not have been famous to give their child a chance to become talented.
They & their forebears may hand on seeds of talent which flower only in one of the younger members of their family tree. .... :)

Pictured above is the great grandson of karl marx & was the first artist in his family.
His grandfather came abroad after the fall of the commune in paris & married marx's daughter jenny.

His father was a leading figure in the french parliament & the french socialist party.
Karl longuet hinself was only interested in art.
He had designed more public monuments than any other french sculptor.

Pictured was karl working between busts of his father left and his great grandather.

Hope thats been food for thought.

Have a great afternoon you talented steemers. :)

I am the first in my family to take to art and develop my talents. I think curiosity is the driving factor for me the desire to observe the world around me and drawing and creating with color and form just came naturally to me. I feel a connection to the creative force within us all. We are all born artists it is just most get told they are not good and start the comparison game. We are all unique points of view unfolding in the creative now.

Spot on... i didnt realise i was an artist till my twenties... love how inspiring stuff can be.. look around & soak it all in... cheers again brother :)

I did not find my artist self agin till I hit 31 now I sit at 44 or 14 with 30 years of experience as I like to call it.

I'd say there's a definite predisposition to talent that can be inherited, but actual talent is a result of, you guessed it, hard work. Upvoted :)
