Some historians say that the war began in 1864 by the taking of a Brazilian warship by Paraguay and others say that it was because of the envy that other countries had like England because of the rapid industrial and military growth that would lead to becoming late or early in a potecia to Paraguay making direct competition with the existing ones of that moment. The truth is that it began when England built a plot with Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay to destroy Paraguay.

But why Paraguay?
Before the war, Paraguay was considered an economic power. The country had no illiterates, everyone had land to work, there were no latifundia, the country had fully national industries, no foreigner could use the resources of the country, was the first to assemble their own barges, build the first railroad in South America , to have an entire line of telegraphs, to be a supplier of steel, had the first iron foundry. All without any interference from another government. The country had no external debt. Foreign professionals were put at the service of the country.

Brazilian ship Marquis de Olinda He was captured by the Paraguayan Navy on November 12, 1864, carrying on board the colonel and president of the Brazilian province of Mato Grosso, Federico Carneiro de Campos, a fact that would trigger the beginning of the War of the Triple Alliance which lasted 6 years.
the beginning of this war falls on Marshal Solaño Lopez who decided to help the Uruguayan government where there was a conflict between two parties the white and the red who had help from Brazil. solano lopez warned brazil and Argentina that he would take as aggression any attempt at imbalance against the state of silver. even so brazil invaded Uruguay in 1864 causing paraguay to seize the ship brazilero
The union of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina resulted in an inevitable defeat for Paraguay.
Paraguay lost much of the territory it still maintained in diplomatic dispute with Brazil, about 334 square kilometers and about 85% of its population and more than 90% of its male population. leaving the country literally in the hands of women who played an important role in the reconstruction of the country.
