Today I am gonna show and try to explain you one of the important archaeological sites on the face of the planet. Personally, I really like this kind of mysterious historical places. So, it's really pleasure to me introduce this place to you.

What is Göbekli tepe?

It’s World’s oldest temple. In this place, there is carbon dating that is going to back over 12.000 years ago. This place is located in Southeastern in Turkey. I think that If this place was located in some where in Europe, then this place would be so popular and it could be full of tourists. There isn't so many tourist there due to located in near Syria.

How this temple discovered?

This place was discovered by a local shepherd by accident in Turkey. Excavations began in 1995 by prof.Klaus Schmidt with the help of the German archaeological institute.

So, what makes so uniq this place?

Göbekli tepe is at least 6000 years older than any other known megalithic side in the World. And also 50 times larger than stonehenge. There is archaeological proof that these installations were not used for domestic use, but predominantly for ritual or religious purposes. Archaeologists interpret those T shaped as stylized human beings, mainly because of the depiction of human extremities that appear on some of the pillars. It's also thousand years older than the Egyptian pyramids.

Supposedly the oldest landmark in the world ey? Always hard to think how long ago that was! It would be nice to see the government put a little bit more effort to protecting landmarks though, the pyramids from what we hear are surrounded by litter.

Thank you for your comment :)

We are celebrating our 2000 anniversaries of some of our cities in Slovenia and that is really remarkable anniversary in my opinion ... but than you bring out temples from Turkey that are 12000 years old?! That is amazing ... Turkey is really rich in history. I am looking forward visiting it in the future.

This is really incredible place. Thank you so much for your nice comment. You are more than welcome here :) I hope you can find an opportunity to visit here.

I've always been fascinated by this place, especially with all the mystery around it.. It seems impossible that the human race could build such a thing 12000 years ago, makes me think there were other forces involved! Hopefully we'll know someday!

Thank you for your nice comment

"There isn't so many tourist there due to located in near Syria." I think you must edit this sentence. Because Göbeklitepe is located in Sanliurfa and Sanliurfa is within the borders of Turkey.
Because of this, tourists can come here with peace of mind.

Dear @rotten, thanks for your comment. I hope you read the whole sentence. "This place is located in Southeastern in Turkey. There isn't so many tourist there due to located in near Syria" which means the place is not in Syria but its near Syria geographically. Kindly informed you.

Gobeklitepe has changed history of mankind. Professor Claud Schmidt had run excavation in there, since 1970's. But he passed away two years ago. The findings in there showed us that mankind can build permanent architectural works beforr passing on settled life. These ruins are the oldest human artifacts around the world.

Thank you so much for your such an informative comment!
