Sad. Still contaminated! I was 11 years old and living in Alaska when this happened. We heard about it! Partly because the Soviets were flying planes into US airspace (Alaska) on a regular basis so we had heightened sensitivities to them.

I wasn't even 3 when it happened, so im not shocked that I didn't hear about it when it occured. It seems like something that merits a discussion in history class, just my opinion.

For sure, it should be taught in history class. It's also a primary reason most European countries, except France, have moved completely away from this type of power.
