Kufu Ship,

Hey guys! So I wanted to give you guys a little history post from Ancient Egypt. One of my favorite Topics from then was the Kufu Ship which was buried in the desert of Giza next to the pyramids. The Kufu Ship was actually bigger than the Mayflower and made much longer than the Mayflower was. This ship was made over 4000 Years Ago!! It was buried in a 143 feet long and 20 feet long pit dug of solid bedrock (A very dense and thick rock that lies a loose material under ground called regolith). The entire ship had been dismantled before being put in the pit. When reassembling the Kufu Ship their techniques came to light. There was actually no fixtures on the ship itself but rather joints that fit perfectly together. The entire ship was held together by rope made of grass! in total there was over a mile (0.6 KM) of grass rope.

The Kufu Ship is now in a specially built museum on the site of Giza. It is the longest preserved ship in history and was the first significant wooden boat. The image below is the site where the Kufu Ship was excavated at
