From the Singapore Daily Times of November 26 we quote tho following details : — ' We have been favored, from a private source, with the following item of news from Acheen :— The Commodore of the Squadron blockading the coast of Acheen, telegraphed that on the 4th November, a landing division from the crews of H. N. M's steamers Admiral Van KinsBergen, Briel, Timor, Coehorn attacked and destroyed Guloh, situated on the east coast of Sumatra, north of Simpang Oolim. His loss was 6 men wounded. Of the Acheenese, 22 were killed, and a number wounded. On 6th November, the villiage situated at the mouth of the Arakundo river was taken without opposition, and burned." We have'also been favored from the same source with the following memo, of the forces to be employed in the second Acheen expedition, which we believe to be correct. So many stories havo circulated as to the number of the troops to be employed in this service, that we are happy to be able to law the figures before our readers.
Force Comprising Second Acheen Expedition : — Infantry, 6354, of which there are Europeans, 2827 ; African, 230 ; Amboinese, 460 ; Natives, 2539 ; Marines, 298 ; Artillerists, 656, of which there are 215 natives; Sappees and miners, 558, of which 865 are natives; landing division from blockading squadron, 873 ; Coolies, 3000 ; making a total of 11,439. The Artillery consists of 74 pieces es follows : — 8 8-inch horse cannon, 12 12-inch mortars, 6 12-inch rifled cannon, 6 12-inch rifled breech-loaders, 8 8-inch rifled cunton 4 40-inch mortars, 12 9-inch iron cannon, and 4 mortars and 4 cannon belonging to the landing division.
