Photos like these are very important. It shows how quickly the Bolsheviks psychologically manipulated the masses. The power of seeing former tsarist officers forced to do labour for the ‘collective good’ sends a very potent message about what was to come in the Soviet Union.

Unfortunately, history does not teach anyone. In Russia, now, out of 8 presidential candidates, 5 would like to return the Soviet Union and justify the crimes of Stalin. And Europe is very much moving towards socialism.
