London is famous for its history and there is no other place with so much than the British museum.

The British empire once covered 23% of the world's lands and 458 million people. During its 200 or so years the museum was filled with everything you can imagine.

Although a lot of artefacts were found during our occupation of Egypt between 1882 and 1952. The real gem was taken from the French after their defeat.

The Rosetta Stone this was the key to deciphering hieroglyphics.

Egypt due to its own fantastic history fills quite a section of the museum.

The world famous and slightly controversial Elgin Marbles, named after Lord Elgin who acquired them from the Turkish whilst the Parthenon was being used by them as a military base. They are not the best examples of Classical Greek sculpture due to being damaged so many times by numerous military bombardments and explosions.

Many of the most fantastic and best known works are from the Middle East.

Out in the sticks is better for me.
