During the reign of Sultan Mahmud Shah, Malacca was attacked by the Portuguese under the leadership of Afonso de Albuquerque. The attack was carried out by the Portuguese in August 1511. In that month Malacca fell into the hands of the Portuguese.

The fall of Malacca to the Portuguese was the most profound wound to the Muslims.

Then portuguese built a fortress to defend the malacca from the attacks of the Muslims. The fort is named Fort A Famosa or Porta de Santiago. As well as establishing a church in the mission of spreading Christianity in Malacca. Buildings built in the 16th century can still be seen today.

In a historical trip in late April, I had the opportunity to visit the ancient building. The European-themed building has fallen into Unesco's world historical heritage. Every day the tourists come to see the former Islamic city that had been seized by the Portuguese, which then successfully recaptured during the sultan Iskandar Muda ruled the sultanate of Aceh Darussalam in the 17th century.
