Art is all about communication
I agree. Since it is a form of communication, it needs to be nurtured by all kinds and actionable means of communication. I see art as a thought contraption and the relationship with the peer minds is an ecosystem for it to be useful.
Absolutely. Art is a universal language that crosses all borders and social strata. But it's universality brings an uncertainty to each piece, which is the beauty of it. It stimulates our minds and emotions, but we can never be sure that is how the artist intended us to react. In many ways, it doesn't matter - the viewer brings 50% of the experience.
The point is that, even though artist and viewer can never be sure whether the exact message has been transmitted through the art - they know that communication between two minds has been achieved. And even if that communication is sometimes ambiguous, it is also intimate.
