Hola, ¿cómo están? Mi nombre es Rebeca Bristol Avila, aunque las personas más cercanas a mí suelen apodarme como Rebe, Rebequita, Rebequiña o simplemente aluden a mi primer apellido, Bristol.

Hello how are you? My name is Rebeca Bristol Avila, although the people closest to me usually nickname like Rebe, Rebequita, Rebequiña or simply allude to my first last name, Bristol.

Nací el 6 de junio de 1994, en la capital de La Habana. Mis padres se separaron antes de tenerme, por lo que fui criada por mi madre y mi padrastro a quién considero como mi verdadero padre.

I was born on June 6, 1994, in the capital of Havana. My parents separated before having me, so I was raised by my mother and my stepfather who I consider to be my real father.

Desde pequeña fui ese tipo de niña que prefería jugar y divertirse con sus amiguitos del barrio a tener que esforzarse por estudiar las materias de la escuela, por lo que era el dolor de cabeza de mi madre, aunque tenía fuerte afinidad por asignaturas de ciencia y arte en las que destacaba e incluso gané varios concursos de dibujo, lo que me hizo ser candidata a postularme para ingresar en la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro, idea que terminé rechazando para unirme a un Instituto Preuniversitario.

Since I was little I was that kind of girl who preferred to play and have fun with her friends from the neighborhood than have to work hard to study school subjects, which was why she was my mother's headache, although I had a strong affinity for science subjects and art in which I stood out and I even won several drawing contests, which made me a candidate to apply to enter the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, an idea that I ended up rejecting to join a Pre-University Institute.

Cuando terminaba de cursar el bachiller en el Instituto Preuniversitario José Martí de Cojímar, quise escoger una carrera que me mantuviera cerca de las ciencias y el dibujo. En mi búsqueda -por la mejor opción- encontré la geología, que tenía muchas ventajas para mí en aquel momento, pues estudiaría en otra provincia, conocería sobre una ciencia de la cual no mucha gente habla, viajaría cada año como parte de las prácticas del semestre universitario y podría hacer croquis de perfiles geológicos en una de las asignaturas obligatorias de la carrera. Definitivamente pensaba que era "lo mío". Pero no voy a mentirte, lograr tener mi título de Ingeniera geóloga fue la lucha más dura que libré, y gané.

When I finished my bachelor's degree at the José Martí of Cojímar Pre-University Institute, I wanted to choose a career that would keep me close to science and drawing. In my search -for the best option- I found geology, which had many advantages for me at that time, because I would study in another province, I would learn about a science that not many people talk about, I would travel every year as part of the practices of the university semester and could make sketches of geological profiles in one of the compulsory subjects of the career. I definitely thought it was "my thing''. But I'm not going to lie to you, getting my degree in Geological Engineering was the hardest fight I fought, and I won.

Una vez que obtuve mi título universitario comencé a trabajar en el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología (IGP) que es un centro que se encarga de generar y proveer conocimientos geológicos al país como Servicio Geológico de Cuba. Por medio de mi trabajo he conocido muchas personas, entre ellos, a @theinfiltred quien me motivó a entrar en el universo de Hive. Hoy puedo decir que todos nos llevamos bien y somos buenos amigos, ya que hemos compartido en cada actividad que convoca la sede científica desde mi ingreso en 2019.

Once I obtained my university degree, I started working at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology (IGP), which is a center that is in charge of generating and providing geological knowledge to the country as the Geological Service of Cuba. Through my work I have met many people, including @theinfiltred who motivated me to enter the Hive universe. Today I can say that we all get along well and are good friends, since we have shared in each activity convened by the scientific headquarters since I joined in 2019.

Soy de esas personas a las que les gusta hacer cosas nuevas, así que un día, mientras revisaba mi Facebook, vi una publicación que convocaba a los usuarios para que matricularan en un nuevo curso de maquillaje social con todas las técnicas del momento. Inmediatamente me inscribí y ahí comenzó mi otra gran pasión por el arte de la belleza.

I am one of those people who likes to do new things, so one day, while I was checking my Facebook, I saw a post that called for users to enroll in a new social makeup course with all the techniques of the moment. I immediately signed up and that's where my other great passion for the art of beauty began.

Poco tiempo después encontré un trabajo de medio tiempo en un estudio fotográfico llamado Foto July, allí inicié mi camino por el arte de los peinados. Mi jefa, en el estudio, dedicó parte de su tiempo a impartirme un curso completo de Imagen y más tarde, comencé a formar mi propio estilo.

Para crear peinados me baso fundamentalmente en lo que me encantaría ver en otras chicas y lo que me resultaría llamativo notar en ellas. Mi fuente de inspiración es solo mi imaginación y el deseo de transmitir algo diferente. He entrado en Hive principalmente para eso, quiero mostrarte lo que hago, pues
sé la importancia que tiene esta plataforma para los nuevos emprendedores que buscan oportunidades para crecer.

To create hairstyles I base myself mainly on what I would love to see in other girls and what I would find striking to notice in them. My source of inspiration is just my imagination and the desire to convey something different. I have entered Hive mainly for that, I want to show you what I do, well.
I know the importance of this platform for new entrepreneurs looking for opportunities to grow.

Mientras maquillo o peino soy feliz, comienzo a imaginar en mi mente qué colores quedan mejor en la piel de la chica que tengo frente a mí, qué diseño de sombras resaltarían mejor sus ojos, cuál sería el peinado perfecto que le daría el toque final a su look. Ver poco a poco esa transformación del antes y el después en cada una de ellas es emocionante y quiero compartir ese sentimiento con el resto del mundo.

While I am doing someone's hair or makeup I am happy, I begin to imagine in my mind what colors look best on the skin of the girl in front of me, what design of shadows would best highlight her eyes, what would be the perfect hairstyle that would give her the perfect touch end to her look. Seeing little by little that transformation of the before and after in each one of them is exciting and I want to share that feeling with the rest of the world.
