Hello, my friends. Wishing you all a beautiful week. I'm here to continue sharing my writings with you. Welcome to my blog.
As on every last Saturday of the month, the "Peña Bumerán" takes place at the Guerrero Gallery (named after a celebrated local cartoonist) in the municipality of Bauta, part of Artemisa province. This gathering was created and is directed by writer Mireisy García Rojas over 11 years ago. Here, poetry is queen, although it includes all literary genres. Throughout this time, everyone from the most distinguished writers to beginners starting their literary life at the Mirtha Aguirre House of Culture has passed through. Even visiting writers have left their indelible mark there.

According to the Royal Spanish Academy, the word boomerang literally means: a weapon or hunting instrument designed to return to the point of launch. It is traditional to the Australian Aborigines and made of wood with a curved, flat shape. Metaphorically, the word boomerang is used to describe an action or situation that, in some way, turns against the person who originated it.
However, for us, this "Bumerán" has another connotation, a different meaning. We prefer to take and keep the part about its rebounding effect, in the sense of returning what is given. And at "Bumerán," poetry, literature, and love are given. Likewise, everyone who has passed through here returns that very same thing and, most importantly, they come back. I am the living example; after I discovered this space about four years ago, I have never been able to tear myself away. I love appreciating art in all its dimensions, which is why I'm always chasing after this type of space.
Sharing with other writers is a way to enrich ourselves. This Saturday, the "peña" had a special connotation because it also served to hold the Municipal Meeting of Literary Workshop Debates during Bauta's Culture Week. Mireisy was recognized for her contribution and perseverance in developing local culture. I received a pleasant surprise; I was also recognized for my perseverance and participation in the cultural life of the province, even though I'm from the capital, they have adopted me here with great affection.
On this occasion, as on many others, the "peña" was set against the backdrop of an exhibition, this time by visual artist Adrián Infante from Bauta, who is celebrating his 35 years of artistic life with work recognized nationally and internationally. This "peña" is an all-in-one. There, music, visual arts, and literature blend together; it is a rainbow, a kaleidoscope of joy and hope.
