Hola, amigos. Hoy quiero contarles sobre una experiencia reciente que tuvimos mi esposa, mi hija y yo. Hace unas semanas, tuvimos la oportunidad de ir a la Feria Internacional del Libro que se celebró aquí en nuestra provincia, Sancti Spíritus. Déjenme decirles que fue una grandiosa experiencia.

Este evento se realizó en el parque Serafín Sánchez, uno de los lugares más hermosos de la ciudad. Pensé que esta actividad cultural sería mayor, ya que solo se podía apreciar unas ocho carpas dispersadas por el lugar, donde vendían variedades de libros. Aunque a pesar de ello, el ambiente era único.
This event took place at Serafín Sánchez Park, one of the most beautiful places in the city. I thought this cultural activity would be larger, as only about eight tents selling a variety of books were scattered around the area. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was unique.
Llegamos por la mañana, antes de que empezaran todas las actividades recreativas vinculadas a este evento. Pude apreciar que estaban montando un escenario a un lado del lugar. Me imagino que se haya puesto bueno.
We arrived in the morning, before all the recreational activities linked to this event began. I could see that they were setting up a stage at one side of the place. I imagine it will be good.
Acá no estamos acostumbrados a encontrar librerías, desconozco si existe alguna en la ciudad. Por lo que mi hija estaba aprovechando la ocasión, recorriendo los puestos y escogiendo sus favoritos. No debe de ser muy difícil de imaginar cuales serían los libros favoritos para una niña de 6 años. Eligió los libros de cuentos y de colorear, y también hizo que le comprara una "Cuquita", al menos es como se conoce acá a las muñecas de papel.
Here we are not used to finding bookstores, I do not know if there is any in the city. So my daughter was taking advantage of the opportunity, going through the stalls and choosing her favorites. It should not be very difficult to imagine what the favorite books would be for a 6-year-old girl. She chose storybooks and coloring books, and also made me buy her a "Cuquita", at least that's what paper dolls are called here.
Solo pudimos quedarnos un poco más de una hora, pero fue suficiente para disfrutar del ambiente, ya que son pocas las oportunidades que tenemos los que vivimos en el campo, de aprovechar oportunidades como esta. Nos quedamos con ganas de más, pero bueno, a veces las responsabilidades llaman y no quedaba de otra.
Como mencioné en anteriormente esto sucedió hace unas semanas. Pero hace unos días vi un artículo en las redes sociales del principal medio de presa digital del estado cubano, hablando sobre el evento. Decían que había tenido más de 34,500 ejemplares. La realidad es que estaban un poco lejos de la verdad. Siendo bastante optimista, no creo que haya llegado a 2000 ejemplares.
Pero bueno, al final lo importante es que pasamos un día increíble en familia, rodeados de libros y de un ambiente excelente. Una grandiosa experiencia que es muy productiva para nuestra niña y para nosotros como familia.
We could only stay a little over an hour, but it was enough to enjoy the atmosphere, as opportunities like this are few for those of us who live in the countryside. We wanted more, but well, sometimes responsibilities call and there was no other choice.
As I mentioned earlier, this happened a few weeks ago. But a few days ago, I saw an article on the social networks of the main digital media outlet in the Cuban state, talking about the event. They said there had been more than 34,500 copies. The reality is they were quite far from the truth. Being quite optimistic, I don't think it even reached 2000 copies.
But well, in the end the important thing is that we spent an incredible day with the family, surrounded by books and an excellent atmosphere. A great experience that is very productive for our girl and for us as a family.
