Esta historia comienza un día hace ya un par de años. En mi grupo de artistas abstractos dieron a conocer la convocatoria para una exposición colectiva en el Centro Experimental de Artes Plasticas y Diseño, cita en esquina de las calles Luz y Oficios en la Habana Vieja. Vivo en la vecina provincia de Artemisa, por eso ir hasta el Centro representaba un viaje interprovincial. La exposición era un homenaje a Lamothe un querido amigo y artista que recién había fallecido aún joven e inesperadamente. Así que no podia dejar de participar.
En Cuba no tenemos una empresa que se encargue del traslado de las obras de arte, por eso tenemos que encontrar la forma de moverlas. Ese día salí temprano y encontré una guagua (autobús) hacia la Habana. Puse mi obra a buen resguardo en los últimos asientos y llegue sin problemas a mi destino. Ya en la Galería ( Este Centro posee varios espacios expositivos) inmediatamente me asignaron un lugar para ubicar mi obra.
Ya se acercaba la fecha escogida para inaugurar la exposición y el equipo de técnicos y especialistas del Centro trabajan intensamente para tener listos todos los detalles. Una muestra que incluye tantas obras de diferentes técnicas y dimensiones si que requiere un gran trabajo para lograrla.
Llegó el día esperado y muchos colegas con sus familiares, amantes del arte y otros invitados nos reunimos en el patio central para inaugurar la muestra. Fue una oportunidad para reencontrar colegas y para conocer otros más. Tuvimos también buena música trovadoresca.
La Galería escogida estaba en el piso superior y subi antes para poder tomarme una foto junto a mi pintura ya montada en su lugar...
Era una exposición colectiva titulada: A Puro Color. En ella participaron poco mas de 50 pintores. Abarcaba no solo la abstracción, sino numerosos estilos pictoricos, bajo la idea de la importancia del color dentro de la pintura.
La pintura abstracta tuvo una magnífica y prolifera representación. Artistas de varias partes del país enviaron sus obras.
La visualidad de la Galería era impactante. Las obras tenían gran calidad. Cada pintor trajo lo mejor de su estilo y eso creaba un ambiente de riqueza de colores, temas, composiciones y estilos.
Finalmente el público inundó la sala. Y empezamos a conocernos y descubrirnos tanto en el plano personal como artístico. Compartir la obra propia y descubrir la de otros, las que tal vez nunca llegaríamos a conocer si no las vemos allí.
Se que las fotos de este post no tienen la mejor calidad. Fueron tomadas hace más de 2 años y en ese entonces la cámara de mí celular no tenía la calidad necesaria. Pero he escogido las mejores para que puedan apreciar esta exhibición.
Todos pusimos el empeño en que este homenaje a nuestro amigo y colega Lamothe tuviera la calidad necesaria. Fue un gran artista, siempre amable y amistoso. Desde aquí le envío un abrazo dondequiera que esté.

Dear Hiver
This story begins one day a couple of years ago. My group of abstract artists announced the call for a group exhibition at the Centro Experimental de Artes Plasticas y Diseño, located on the corner of Luz and Oficios streets in Old Havana. I live in the neighboring province of Artemisa, so going to the Center represented an interprovincial trip. The exhibition was a tribute to Lamothe, a dear friend and artist who had recently passed away still young and unexpectedly. So I could not fail to participate.
In Cuba we do not have a company in charge of moving the works of art, so we have to find a way to move them. That day I left early and found a bus to Havana. I put my artwork safely in the last seats and arrived at my destination without any problems. Once at the Gallery (this Center has several exhibition spaces) I was immediately assigned a place to place my work.
The date chosen to inaugurate the exhibition was approaching and the team of technicians and specialists of the Center were working hard to get all the details ready. An exhibition that includes so many works of different techniques and dimensions requires a great deal of work.
The long awaited day arrived and many colleagues with their families, art lovers and other guests gathered in the central courtyard to inaugurate the exhibition. It was an opportunity to meet colleagues again and to get to know others. We also had good troubadour music.
The chosen Gallery was on the upper floor and I went up first so I could take a picture with my painting already mounted in place.
It was a group exhibition entitled: A Puro Color. A little more than 50 painters participated in it. It covered not only abstraction, but numerous pictorial styles, under the idea of the importance of color in painting.
Abstract painting had a magnificent and prolific representation. Artists from various parts of the country sent their works.
The visual impact of the Gallery was striking. The works were of great quality. Each painter brought the best of his style and that created an atmosphere of richness of colors, themes, compositions and styles.
Finally the audience flooded the room. And we began to get to know and discover each other both personally and artistically. Sharing our own work and discovering the work of others, which we would never get to know if we didn't see them there.
I know the pictures in this post are not the best quality. They were taken more than 2 years ago and at that time my cell phone camera did not have the necessary quality. But I have chosen the best ones so you can appreciate this exhibition.
We all made every effort to ensure that this tribute to our friend and colleague Lamothe had the necessary quality. He was a great artist, always kind and friendly. From here I send him a hug wherever he is.
