Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!
Building The Perfect Broken Transmission!
Damn this might be the weirdest thing I have ever said related to anything mechanically!
How can something break this perfect? It's ironic right? It breaks but nothing is broken... Not seriously at-least!
So let's tear down this big block of something that makes the wheels go round and round!

The Condition!
Okay the oil condition of the transmission is not at all in the best condition but the amount of wear I can see on the magnets are very low.
Safe to say that it's more normal wear and tear than anything actually breaking inside the transmission.

You just got to love that good old ATF oil, can you see how clean the casings are on the inside compared to stuff that uses gear oil? You know in most manual transmissions.
The thing with ATF is that it keeps the dirty molecules inside the oil and then that oil runs through the filter and gets caught in the filter, thus sending clean oil through a clean casing.

A Dream To See For A Transmission Techy!
Oh this is such a dream thing to see!
These are almost always buggered up! Some more than other but this one is so beautifull it feels like I am in heaven today with this build!
This is the input shaft of the transmission, which means it couples directly to the converter that couples directly with the engine. Which means that this shaft gets the most of the torque output from the engine! Hence gets damaged real bad! Especially in tuned pickups!

Stripped To The Core!
Well now that the fun part of ripping everything apart and all the clutch stacks removed from their clutch drums. I can now focus on the tedious job of getting everything cleaned up!
Sheesh!

Not Actually Needed.
See this powdery black coat isn't actually doing anything to the transmission at all, it's just a thin film of clutch powder residing in the casing.
Too fine for the filter to pick up and too fine to actually cause any damage, but with my OCD picking up one of these parts and having black fingers just plays the mental game in my head that this is dirty, which is actually is but you get my point!

Thankfully this isn't as bad a job as I make it out to be! I have a nice little tub to pump the parafin through a little scrubby brush!
To the cleaning we go!

Satisfaction For A Builder!
Now this is only like this because I took the whole effort of cleaning out every little part there is!
In-fact I want to do even more! I want to clean out more! But bossman keeps saying I do too much effort! Well yes sir this is my name in the making here! Your time has passed!
LOL jokes!
However I do want these things cleaner but this is pretty damn close and maybe over the line of cleanliness right?
Now let's start building this beauty!

The Bushing Work!
Now I could just rebuild this transmission as is but let's not, let's do it the right way by adding a nice bush kit to this already beautifull job!
This is also a time consuming part as you have to remove all the old bushes and then do some more cleaning and then add all the new bushes and then make sure your clearances between the bushes are right!

A whole lot of them that needs fitting! I better get started!

A Mess Again!
And just like that my working table is a mess again!
Atleast this is a good kind of mess right?
Getting the work done! I think time for coffee break now!

The Pump Gears!
This is where our beating lays!
The pump gear and pump housing! This is in direct play with the input shaft! BUT since our input shaft looks like it was manufactured yesterday, means that this pump is also in pristine condition.
If both are good then both are good but if one fails it messes the other parts up!
So we are in the clear here!

The Final Piece To This Madness!
I suspect this to be the cause!
Now since we didn't get a vehicle and only a loose transmission we will never really know the cause but after a build we usually tell the clients if any problems bring the entire vehicle and we will sort it out, if the fault is on our side!!
Now since I didn't see any damage inside the transmission at all I do suspect the problems to be within this valve body!

Which means I will give this thing the most attention!
There is a lot I can check manually and a lot I can not check at all, yeah sure we can measure resistance on the solenoids and give them power and see if they work. The problem with that is that it's pointless, it's rare cases where you would find them not working or giving too much resistance to say this one is broken!
The real thing is when that solenoid gets hot and has hot oil flowing through it and it has to do the work with high oil pressure! That's the better way of knowing it's damaged!
So much love to this and then we are done for!

Great job my friend it all looked and sounded very mechanical, your posts are always very well constructed and clearly you know what you are doing have the best weekend.
