It was a busy morning in Duluth, Minnesota this morning, as the three ships in the port all left.
American Integrity (one of the 1000-foot-long laker vessels) was off with the sun.
As Integrity (owned by American Steamship Company) made her way under the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge (with a captain's salute), the sun cleared the Lake Superior horizon.

A little while later, we were treated to a "twofer" as the remaining two ships departed. (Luckily, the Pier B camera was on manual operation today which allowed us to follow their progress as they navigated Duluth Harbor.
First, we had the Kaye E Barker (767-foot bulk carrier operated by Interlake), carrying coal to the lower lakes. Following her, filled with wheat, was the Minervagracht a 466-foot "salty" from the Netherlands (Spliethoff.) All of the Spliethoff company bulk carrier ships bear names from the Dutch canals.
I love this picture of Kaye E Barker. She's not often in Duluth, so this was a bit of a treat. She gave us a lovely two-toned captain's salute (one long, two short) as she sailed beneath the bridge.

Then, it was just Minervagracht. The salties don't make it to Duluth as frequently, so it's always a treat to see them in port. They often deliver wind turbine blades or other parts and load either wheat (as in this case) or beet pulp pellets (for sugar processing.)

Minervagracht gave us a cute captain's salute as she went under the bridge.
