Hey Hiveians, especially macro photography lovers. Today I want to share some macro captures here.

This is the Chinese king robber fly (a male), which is also known as the assassin fly. Cophinopod chinensis is a species of robber fly classified in the family Asilidae.

Look at that, he's gripping his prey. Yes, a poor grasshopper has become his prey.

He has a fairly long proboscis and has strong legs with sharp hooked claws, and they are his weapons for killing prey.

While his legs gripped tightly, he thrust his proboscis into the grasshopper's neck. Of course, it's very painful, but that's the law of the jungle where the strong will prey on the weak.

What a cool thing to spot and photograph!
(My condolences to the grasshopper's family.)
