When the enemy tries to get close to it, at that time it will give off a foul odor. That's what I experienced when I approached it to take pictures.
The jewel bug (Scutelleridae) belongs to the true bug family. This insect has a beautiful appearance with dominant metallic green color and shiny black spots that cover its shield to its head.
My advice, if you ever want to take pictures of jewel bugs, be careful! Don't put your face too close to it, because if your eyes splash with odor liquid, it will really hurt.
