Yesterday afternoon, in a nearby house they were burning the vegetation, something that really left us with a strong allergy, and on top of that, a few unexpected visits in the house's laundry room, some crickets were jumping from one place to another, I assume it was because of the burning, since they usually appear on rainy days, and it has not rained for several weeks now. Usually, I would be jumping because they always manage to surprise me, however, the one who jumped out of his skin was Mi Mathias, in fact, he didn't want to go out in the garden because of this little friend who was practically at the back door of the house.
This cricket that apparently is of the species Ruspolia nitidula, and that we at home call leaf cricket, is sometimes seen with its spill very similar to the dry leaves, this, let's say that is its camouflaged suit, but in a pink wall there is little that can be hidden, so I took some pictures of it before it jumped on me and came out screaming and jumping like crazy hahaha.
Originally from Europe, we have always seen them at home, the truth is that they give me a certain kind of panic, because when I was a child they jumped on me more than once, so let's say, they created a trauma. These little ones are food for people in Uganda, I imagine that they see it as a kind of shrimp hahaha, if we see it in detail, they have a certain similarity, however, this would be one of the many things that I would never taste in my life.
Researching a little bit about this species, I could read that it is on the way to extinction, and it is probably for this reason that they are not seen as much today as they were about 20 years ago, the truth is that as the years go by, less and less of them are seen. It is the first time that I get so close to one of these (what we do for a photograph hahaha), but I think it was worth it, since I had never been able to appreciate the details on their wings, much less observe their eyes and mouth.

Ayer por la tarde, en una casa cercana estaban quemando la vegetación, algo que realmente nos dejó con una fuerte alergia, y además de eso, unas cuantas visitas inesperadas en el lavandero de la casa, algunos grillos estaban saltando de un lugar a otro, asumo que fue por la quema, ya que, por lo general aparecen en días lluviosos, y hace ya varias semanas que no llueve. Por lo general estaría saltando pues siempre logran sorprenderme, sin embargo, el que brincó del susto fue Mi Mathias, de hecho, no quería salir al jardín por este pequeño amiguito que se encontraba prácticamente en la puerta trasera de la casa.
Este grillo que al parecer es de la especie Ruspolia nitidula, y que nosotros en casa le decimos grillo hoja, es visto en ocasiones con su vertido muy similar a las hojas secas, este, digamos que es su traje camuflado, pero en una pared rosada es poco lo que puede ocultarse, así que aproveche de tomarle algunas fotografías antes de que me saltara encima y saliera gritando y pegando brincos cual loca jajajaja.
Originario de Europa, siempre los hemos visto en casa, la verdad es que a mí me dan cierta clase de pánico, porque de pequeña en más de una ocasión me saltaron encima, entonces digamos que, me crearon un trauma. Estos pequeños son comida para las personas en Uganda, imagino que lo ven como una especie de camarón jajaja, si lo vemos en detalle, tienen cierta similitud, sin embargo, esta sería una de las tantas cosas que jamás probaría en mi vida.
Investigando un poco acerca de esta especie, pude leer que está en vías de extinción, y es probable que sea por esta razón que actualmente no se ven tanto como hace unos 20 años, la verdad es que a medida que pasan los años cada vez se ven menos de estos. Es primera vez que me acerco tanto a uno de estos (lo que hacemos por una fotografía jajaja), pero creo que valió la pena, pues nunca había podido apreciar los detalles en sus alas y mucho menos observar sus ojos y boca.
