My meeting with a centipede and a millipede | Photographs

Hello friends insect lovers,

I don't know if it happens to everyone, but when we are in rainy season bugs and insects start to appear everywhere, so you have to be super alert, even more when there are children at home.

Recently I was looking out the window and I was watching a step of the entrance of my house, there were some centipedes, it caught my attention that they were together as if making an expedition, surely they were looking for a place that was dry to take refuge after a torrential downpour.

I approached them to take some pictures and share them with you, I found these critters very attractive. When I approached them I moved them a little bit and almost simultaneously they rolled up as a measure to protect themselves from a possible threat. After a few minutes, when they were sure there was no danger, they returned to their elongated form. I was impressed that, for many legs, they travel distances very slowly.

After taking the pictures, I was curious to know what species these little critters really belonged to, so making use of the benefits of technology I started my research using Google Lens to find out who these unexpected visitors were.

According to the results of the most similar images these are two types of centipedes, one of them is a scolopendra which indeed belongs to the centipede family. From what I read they are not very friendly and can even be dangerous if they sting you causing a lot of pain.

This other one is a diplopoda, I was astonished to learn that it can have up to a thousand feet, and although this may be more alarming, its number of legs is not proportional to the damage they can cause, because unlike the previous one, this one is more harmless to people, maybe that's why it did not do anything to me when I touched it.
