Protaetia fusca or the plant lover

in Fascinating Insects3 years ago
Hello everyone's!!!

Seeing it in the wild weeds, to be precise on the leaves of seula (as people here call it), made me think for a moment, it turns out that this beetle, not only lives on every leaf of the mango tree, but also lives on every leaf of wild langur, or also on other weeds. Then what about the name that has been given by everyone, namely, Mango Flower Beetle or Mango Tree Beetle.

Perhaps this name, refers to his character which is always seen in the leaves or flowers of the mango tree, although he is also seen on other plants besides the leaves of the mango tree.

The basis is also a reference because he really likes to eat the flowers of the mango plant and also the sap, so he is often in the plant. However, if he is seen in every wild plant, it means he also likes the flower itself or there is a sap that is suitable for consumption to meet the nutrients for his body's intake.

I am interested in this one beetle, because now it has been traded by certain people, this can be seen in one of the media that sells services such as shopee.co.id at a price of 14,000 rupiah or the equivalent of 1 dollar, but for further information about it is not known because, you can see here shopee

If you look at the results of the link, it can be ascertained that, they continue to be hunted by certain people in an effort to collect change, and this work certainly produces adequate results in terms of life.

If they are being hunted by certain people, then why is this done?

Of course, it has a specific purpose, for certain purposes, and this can also be seen in every traditional market that sells it in the bird market, whether livestock birds or wild birds. Thus they are hunted of course to be given to each animal in the form of a particular pet bird.

Or they are also in the interest of people who cultivate large ornamental fish such as Arowana fish or the like. But what I'm saying is just a guess because it's not really accurate. However, the incident of buying and selling them is definite information, because I myself have seen it in every traditional market and in several places where ornamental birds are traded and vice versa.

But fruit farmers really hope that they will continue to be hunted by certain people, because their presence is considered a pest, they often attack the flowers of plants that will become fruit, as described above, which is often found in every mango fruit plant.

According to the explanations of fruit growers, their presence can damage flower seeds and others, and sometimes along their spread, beetles damage various plants, which are often cultivated by farmers such as :

  1. Eating leaves
  2. eating petals
  3. eating nectar
  4. Eats pollen
  5. and also eats fruit.

It can be seen that, the beetles themselves often damage the flowers while looking for nectar and pollen, sometimes completely cutting off the flowers, and in the end the yields become scanty and sometimes rot on each branch. Not only this beetle, but there are other insect species that often dominate every plant being managed by farmers.

When every beetle and insect that is a plant pest, not a pollinating insect, its presence in its chosen location gets the status of a destroyer, and what is more feared is damaging the flowers, when each flower is destroyed it can reduce the abundance of fruit that will later be produced by the plant. Then what about this type? Although this species prefers fruit that has been damaged or overripe, its fruit status also becomes damaged (as is the case for some other related Protaetian species). The situation will be more favorable for fruit farmers, if hunters such as birds know of its existence, these predators are able to handle and can narrow the range of motion of this protaetia fusca beetle.

I personally found it or this beetle protaetia fusca, not on fruit crops (as farmers fear) but on any wild weeds as you can see in the pictures in this post. Then they will be safe in their new territory and their presence here, not hostile to farmers, because this location is in an isolated area with residents or free from farmers' land.

Hopefully you like it...
