A slow gust of wind carried a yellow leaf flying, he looked dry, due to the influence of the time he had passed, although he had a short life, he also brightened up the atmosphere with a yellow to blue dragonfly in a hurry

(Rhino Dragonfly)

On the side a small piece of wood had been broken into the boundary of a small field where tomatoes were growing. Your can also see the wave of tomato leaves that are growing and developing. The wooden pole becomes a location or place for the rhino dragonfly to stand and presumably he is monitoring something that comes from nature itself.

Dragonfly Rhino with a modest size looks small from the green tomato leaves. Looking at it from a close direction, it can be seen from its wings that are closed together. His position was right in the middle of the pole, as if he was looking at something so that his body was on top of the tomato field dividing pole.

Seeing the condition of dragonflies like that, then a question arises, are they able to read climate change in this region?

If it is said he is able to see it, or is able to read the movement of nature, how to see it and we as humans how to know it.

Question after question keeps coming out of everyone's mind when I say that dragonflies are able to detect some of the water conditions in a chosen area. Scientifically I say that the presence of dragonflies itself becomes a bioindicator of this nature, specifically on the part of water and several other things.

I once read a book that was classified as a biology subject, the title of the book was
Naga Terbang Wendit (2013) where there was an amazing explanation that dragonflies were the first flying insects in the world. Then below it is also explained that dragonflies appeared since the carbon age or between 360 - 290 million years ago. Thus it can be said that dragonflies have existed since ancient times.

If we simplify that, dragonflies were the first major insects to exist and have the ability to fly, I myself can imagine if they existed in the carbon age, of course they would have different sizes from today's conditions.

However, if you look at the stages of its occurrence, it is very different from the butterfly event process, the butterfly itself has a perfect metamorphosis as it begins with eggs, larvae, cocoons and eventually becomes an adult butterfly. While the dragonfly itself does not have a perfect stage as experienced by butterflies, it is said to be an imperfect metamorphosis, such as starting with eggs, nymphs and eventually becoming an adult dragonfly.

To this day, it is not known that butterflies lived in the carbon age or during the heyday of the dragonflies. The reason is that there has not been found a butterfly carcass that is embedded with something like a dragonfly in the ancient era itself.

Uniquely, when the dragonfly egg and nymph are in their stages, then the two stages must be in water, unlike butterflies which still rely on life on land. Each female dragonfly will lay its eggs in the water, this is influenced by the feed that supplies it in the water, so dragonfly nymphs often hunt animals that live in water, in general the nymphs eat mosquito larvae.

Likewise, when it becomes an adult dragonfly, it will move to the mainland, because of the same thing, it is not surprising that dragonflies will continue to prey on insects including mosquitoes and several other insect species. Not only are they prey to insects, but they also often prey on small spiders that are often in their nests.

Eating every type of insect, as well as animals that are not included in insect species such as spiders, is something that invites the attention of experts in glancing at him so that many unexpected things happen in his life. For myself, seeing him is very manly when he is in the air or when he is hunting every prey. His flying prowess in trapping his prey deserves thumbs up because every target he wants to achieve will always produce perfect results.

Someone who comes from a group of insect lovers, or following local research, has done manual research, they saw every dragonfly movement in a few days when the dragonfly was doing hunting activities, it turns out that every dragonfly always succeeds, in reaching its prey. Each prey will always be caught and the success rate reaches 70% in every action while hunting.

I myself also saw something special in dragonflies when hunting, the key is that they are very fast in maneuvering, sometimes they can deceive the opponent's movements, or can be said to be able to turn off the opponent's steps when dealing with fellow flying insects.

His flying prowess is not only seen in hunting but is very shrewd when repelling the intruder, in general every dragonfly will feel disturbed by the presence of other dragonflies, when this happens, fierce battles between fellow dragonflies can be seen. When the intruder dragonfly experiences defeat, it will immediately leave the location of the struggle as a ruler who must be respected.

So many unique things are seen in each dragonfly's movement, and it will not run out to describe it. If have the opportunity, I will explain everything about it again. Hopefully useful in your scientific insight and mine. Thank you very much.
