RE: Tenthredinidae - little yellow worm thing

Wonderful photos! Such crisp, clear pics of this cute little thing! Bravo! 💜

I tried doing a search, but failed to identify this particular genus & species. In doing so, however, I learned that there are 7,500 species of Sawfly... 😳 That is simply amazing! And they aren't really "flies" in the zoological sense, but more closely related to bees & wasps than flies. One site even referred to them as "primitive wasps." So, there's that information, at least! The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center has an online 'Fauna Project' which shows a photo of this same critter with "unknown species of Sawfly" underneath it. So, if they are not even sure... 😂

Wow, thank you so much for your extensive research, @thekittygirl, I didn't expect anybody to do such a research, but that's great.
I have also found quite a few similar larvae and lots of information in several forums, but nothing concrete, and then I gave up because I thought that Tenthredinidae and Sawfly should be enough information anyway 😉

Again, I thank you very much for your engaged work and trying to help, and that you like the photos of this little yellow thing, @thekittygirl 🙂
I wish you a nice evening or great day, whatever time in Kittylandia is right now ;)
