UFC Fight Night in Nashville was pretty good!

in Sports Talk Social • 9 months ago

Yesterday was just a fight night for the UFC, not a full on pay-per-view, but the energy in the Bridgestone Arena was pretty great! The fans were very energetic throughout much of the night.

Sean Woodson is victorious over Dennis Buzukja

Sean Woodson looked good, and gigantic as usual in his unanimous decision victory. He is a good fighter, I just feel like he's bullying dudes in there being so dang big. He looks like Jon Jones in that weight class. Heck, he's practically as tall as Jones.

Will be interesting to see him face higher caliber opponents though. Him vs Volkanovski would be really interesting, but Woodson is not even ranked yet, just the height difference would be mad.

Cody Durden wins an absolute war vs Jake Hadley

These two flyweights really went at it in the octagon. Every phase of martial arts was used.

In round two they almost submitted each other in a matter of two minutes. Just wild grappling.

Just a really good fight overall from both of them, just wanted to mention it I guess.

Billy Q defeats Damon Jackson in a very competitive bout

I actually was a little surprised Billy Q won, it wasn't a total robbery, but when it was announced it was a unanimous decision, I had to raise my eyebrows. That should have been a split decision.

These two put on a great performance, Damon was doing work to start the fight, but he did start to fade a little bit.

Billy Q looked good in moments, I am a fan and look forward to seeing him rise in competition. Damon is super game and hopefully he keeps fighting.

Tanner Boser looks fantastic in a brutal fight vs Aleksa Camur.

Tanner looked kinda freaking jacked for this fight vs Camur. He looked sort of soft-ish as a heavyweight, light heavyweight might be the way to go for him going forward. Boser hits stupid hard man, especially at this lighter weight class. Camur looked small and overwhelmed the majority of the time.

Impressive for Boser, hopefully the UFC keeps him around.

The rise of Diego Lopes?

I've never heard of Lopes until yesterday, but man he really stood out to me. Lopes took out Gavin Tucker, a pretty game opponent that's been in the UFC for six years, in the very first round.

Lopes locked in an arm bar and it was just super skillful and intense. It's like he really can control his lower body like a freaking snake.

I'll be keeping my eye on Lopes going forward in the featherweight division.

Tatiana Suarez is the TRUTH

Tatiana made a real statement against the very well respected Jessica Andrade as she submits Jessica in round two.

Tatiana was in total control throughout the fight. She is a scary woman, very calculated in that octagon.

I hope she becomes champion of the Strawweights!

Corey Sandhagen continues to show how well-rounded he is

After a night of exciting fights, the usually exciting Corey Sandhagen sort of bored the crowd to death by wrestling Rob Font to death.

While the crowd seemed to hate it, I was impressed. Rob Font could not get up, at all. Corey really looked like Khabib out there but less effective in terms of actually finishing the fight.

Still, Corey got the takedown whenever he wanted, the exciting striker is showing his fellow bantamweights that he's got a lot to his game.

Corey surely will fight for the title next.
