Tottenham Go 4th Place. Turns Out Disaster of A Season Ain't so Bad.

Everybody is talking about how Spurs are having a disaster of a season but on Sunday we moved our way into the top 4 without any noise. Newcastle have been week since the world cup so they are drifting away. Liverpool and Chelsea are having a disaster so this is helping. Spurs are still in the Champions League and the FA Cup so things are not all that bad really. A couple of years ago getting into the top 4 would be a mammoth task but we sort of breezed into it on Sunday without much publicity.
The downside is our arch rivals Arsenal are top and playing a better style of football than what Spurs are doing. Conte will bring trophies if he stays but at what cost? Some fans say they would rather enjoy the games and go for them rather than the defensive football that a 3 4 3 wing back system brings.

Conte is recuperating from a serious operation so his assistant Steillini has taken the helm. He actually has a 100% record as a manager covering for Conte at Inter Milan and Tottenham so fat beating Man City and West Ham at the weekend and a few more for Inter. Some are evening saying that it is even better for the players not to have a little man jumping up and down on the sidelines giving out to them. I tend to agree with them on this . Especially in Sons case. I think if Sonny has to think it is a problem and this may be affecting his form. Conte shouted to Bentancur in Italian a few months ago "Pass the ball dickhead" so maybe this is not very helpful.

Spurs play AC Milan at home next Wednesday and surely we have to be going into that game confident in front of our own crowd. Players back from injury and suspension, Milan aren't great but they still won the league last year. They beat us in the San Siro but I really think we can get one back at home and then finish them off in extra time or something like that. If they is the case we are through to the last 8 and then it gets serious. Spurs play Sheffield United in the FA cup so an easier draw than most here with many Premiership teams gone out. Chance here too and then the top 4 for the taking so in fairness, the season has not been a complete disaster.

One commentator asked the question why Stellini is not in the running to replace Conte and maybe he has a valid point. Let's face it , Conte is not filling us with hope that he will sign a new contract as he wants to return home to Italy and be with his family. I would be very surprised if he stayed to be honest so Tottenham have to look ahead and fill the position. Brightons new manager De Zerpi is on the list. Poch who has been hanging out in London "Waiting on the call" is hot favourite. Personally that man gave me so much joy with his style of play that I would love him back. I think Spurs should have sent him on sabbatical for the year so he would come back refreshed, Instead we went down the "Win at any Costs Now" route with Mourinho and Conte and it is just not our DNA. The football is rubbish from both managers and this year is the worst I have seen us play ever I think. However as new players come in and learn the system, Contes football could be good. He is not Mourihno in this way. His teams play out from the back with some decent football. It is just getting in the right players to fit the bill.

The players who are on loan are interesting. Spence has started poorly with Rennes. Joe Roden can't get a game so he is a disaster. Winks is Sampdoria's best player. Athletico can't wait to send Reguilon back to Spurs as he has been a disaster with injuries. Ndombele can't get in the Napoli team. Gil is playing well in Spain. Los Celso is a key player but injury ravaged. Troy Parrott is not having a great season. Scarlett is doing OK. So in summary the players Conte got rid of are not really ripping the place up. If Poch came back I wonder would he recall Ndombele and Los Celso. Two players that cost him his job in the first place. Poch was also a fan of Harry Winks after his Real Madrid escapades so it would be an interesting summer to see who he would get in and keep.

Sonny was dropped and about time. Many people love Sonny and I am not one of them. Granted he gets a few goals but he could really improve and wastes many chances because he plays with his head down. I was glad Richarlison got a chance and in my opinion it was the right call. He put himself about more and was a hindrance against West Ham. Sonny came on and scored labeling him a super sub. This might be bad for Sonny as he could end up becoming an Ole Gunnar if he is not careful. He needs a kick up the arse and this is why Spurs got in Danjuma.
What a pass from Hojbjerg for Royals first goal by the way. Lets take a look.

Hojbjerg is the dustman.
He does the hard work and does the rubbish jobs to make Spurs solid. He is massively underrated. Pepe had him at Munich and called him the next Busquets which is quite the compliment. He was suspended against Milan and you could see it. His partner in crime Bentancur is injured for the rest of the season so it will either be Bissouma, Skipp or Sarr to partner him.

Emerson Royal is going from zero to hero. It wasn't long ago that he got booed off in January by our own fans. Now he has 3 goals in three games. Delighted for him though as he always gives 100% and it is not his fault he plays out of position. He is only 23 as well. Things got so bad at one stage that he had to turn the comments off on his social media platforms but they are back on again. The signing of Pedro Porro has probably made him more motivated to keep his place. Porro had a disaster in his first game for Spurs so it will be a while before we see him again.

So Doctor Tottenham are playing Chelsea on Sunday. A great time to get the Pensioners considering they are woeful but this is a time where we don't want to get them. Spurs always, always play woeful against Chelsea so I don't hold out much hope for this one. A win would be magnificent. I would be happy with a draw but wait and see, Chelsea will play like peak Barcelona against us and it will finally click for Graham Potter.

In other news Arsenal are starting to stutter. It was written in the stars. They will bottle and bottle good. They were very very lucky against Villa. Arteta made a show of himself on the touchline trying to be Mourinho. I am glad he is getting the Twitter treatment because he deserves it.

People who don’t appreciate Hojbjerg will the same ones that thought Michael Carrick wasn’t a good player.

I love Poch but he shouldn’t come back. Like any relationship you hold on tight, let go easy.

I dunno. A little piece if me wants him back but I know it might be a disaster. De Zerbi would be interesting

This year premier league ain't it bruvv🙂💀

Players unpredictable, it's just mayhem on the field 💔

It is isn't it 😀

I can't wait for Tottenham vs. Chelsea. Hoping Chelsea can kick start their season and apologies that it may be at your expense!

Can you believe however that there are FOUR .. yes, FOUR teams from London that are ahead of Chelsea on the ladder? Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham, AND BRENTFORD!!

FFS!!

haha its mad isn't it . But Doctor Tottenham will be here the weekend to make it all better.
